Looks like a major fault on a CrossCountry train at Tamworth, blocking the Down since early this morning, and now expected to be there until mid evening. All the more surprusing when you realise it is one if the closest stations to Burton Rivers RSMD, where much CrossCountry stock is maintained. If they can't fix it there, it will be something fairly serious.
On the plus side, some people have been getting unusual route mileage on diversions from Wichnor to Aston via Lichfield!
Lots if cancellations and delays ensueing.

Edit reason: incomplete post due to stupid phone keypad!

The unit is now moving very slowly towards Kingsbury.
Northbound trains now running normal route, southbound via Lichfield.
Nottingham services not running between (at least) Derby and Birmingham.
Delays compounded by a numbed of separate issues in the south West.

I thought Cross Country 170's were maintained at Tyseley?
It's just 220/221s which are looked after at Central Rivers Depot.

But as Peterthegreat has already said- Tamworth issue is further compounded by the issues around Bristol- Sadly person hit by a train and also points failure at Westerleigh Junction.

Thought something like that.
Definitely not all to time, lots of Nottongham-Cardiff services cancelled.

A bad day for CrossCountry, this the only one their fault!
- lineside incident lunchtime in Bristol, blocking all lines Stapleton Road
- points failure at Westerleigh junction blocking Dn Gloucester & Up London routes.
- trespass near Wakefield
And others affecting connections... bad day for passengers!

Even the Grand Central Class 180s go to Central Rivers.
