Disused line at Five Ways, Birmingham

Between Fiveways southbound platform and the canal, there is the track of a lifted railway. It seems to diverge from the cross city line just south of 5 ways stn. By the time you get to the road bridge it is higher than the existing railway.
Does anyone know where this line went, why did it close and when?

Looking at the RCH Junction Diagrams, it's the line from Church Rd Jn to Birmingham Central Goods (MR). Wikipedia gives 6 March 1967 as the closure date.

Interesting, looking on google maps there seems to be the old tunnel portal still visible behind Malmaison, below holiday passage, directly in line with Navigation Street. All easy when you've got a map to go from! The parking area between the two red roofed buildings on Bridge Street marks the route of the tunnel, and I'm guessing may explain the construction of the building on the other side of the canal.
