Fast ferries don't normally have crew cabins, so the crew normally live ashore. For the Swift, the crew sleep on the Ulysses, and do one overnight round trip in their cabins on that ship before embarking Swift for her day's sailing. This has been happening since Irish Ferries started using Eastern European seafarers - it would have been far too expensive to put them in hotels, but Dobson Fleet Management suggested the current arrangement, which was part of what got them the management contract for the whole fleet at that time.
Yes, exactly as explained above. I don't think it's an ideal arrangement, but the sheer size of the Ulysses means that they can easily accommodate the crew needed.
