Hi, would it be possible to retime the Dalmuir bound services such that the dwell time at Motherwell isn't so long?
Ie retiming it from Cumbernauld etc to leave later

Surely it doesn't need to wait 10 minutes there, and it could be reduced to three or four (or whatever the minimum amount of time is for a crew change) if a crew change is required.

This service even shows it waiting 13:

I would be happy to hear your thoughts on this.

Immediate thoughts:

At Whifflet there is an xx33 arrival into P2 just after the Cumbernauld, so the next available path there is a full 10min later.
However, the service needs to cross the junction at Motherwell and arrive there by xx42 latest to avoid delaying the down Lanark (and provide a connection), so that not an option.
Afraid you're stuck with the delights of Motherwell P3 :)

Useful as it may be to have through services to Cumbernauld from stations on the Hamilton corridor, I wonder if replacing the Cumbernauld 'extension' with a standalone Motherwell - Stirling service might offer greater benefit and overcome the issues with extending the current Cumbernauld services further north - i.e. operate the Motherwell - Stirling service with 385s?

If a 'dive under' could be built to the north of Motherwell station allowing trains to / from the Mossend direction to arrive in and depart from platforms 3 and 4 without conflicting with mainline traffic on platforms 1 and 2 that would solve a lot of Motherwell's problems. Or perhaps a slightly cheaper solution to add a Haymarket style platform 0 for trains terminating from the Mossend direction.

I would actually disagree here as the Coatbridge to Hamilton Circle train is important. Especially seeing as the interworking and through running of Whifflet line trains with Hamilton trains has stopped.

If it were the need to extend to Stirling then extending that Hamilton Circle train up or creating a new service without affecting the Hamilton trains shall suffice.
