Does Air Berlin count as budget?

The price is, but the service isn't, which is a fantastic benefit!

Ryanair all the way!

Couldn't even get from here to Rodez by train with under £50.

And if it's that much cheaper than Eurostar I can only assume it uses less energy, no matter what they say.

Jet2 - goes from Yeadon airport (or Leeds Bradford to use a modern phrase) 20 mins from home and never had any problems on trips using them.

Why is BA in the list as well?

David BA has seperate budget airlines , e.g GB Airways and BA Connect aswell as domestic routes with the main airline 'British Airways' using a319s , a320s , and a few a321s with 757s being used aswell. The long haul flights are the best 747s and the :grin:ALL MIGHTY BA 777:grin: Best ever that airline.Just love watching them on there approach into LHR

BA are okay... as long as someone else is paying!

As I don't fly much due to the environmental impact, I can only vote for RyanAir as that's the airline I have used. For you planespotters (Fred), it was a 737 I think.

They use 737-400 but not much now and Environmental Impact:?: All the Diesels make more impact then a single jet but I see where your coming from:smile:

Flybe? I'm sure they should be on top after the BA Connect take over?

Monarch isn't classed as a No Thrills according to the ICAO either... more a Euro Charter but with sched's to remove the charter status..

RyanAir... Yes they are cheap

FlyWoosh... There another goodie

EasyJet... Another big player

BMI Baby... Like the largest

BA... Not really a low cost anymore, especially the SHT flights...

BA Connect, no no

GB Air it's a sub not actually BA, take Loganair as an example

the Scarebusses and 75s are on the SHT flights and they are not low cost

Long Hauls are the actual British Airways own...

However the airline itself is only big because it has shares with other airlines... soon to go i.e Loganair...

Ryanair use 737-800s which are the Next Generation version of the 400. I don't know if they ever had 400s, but they did used to have 200s, but these were withdrawn a few years ago due to not meeting noise regulations, and getting rarther passed it.

The only budget airline I've flown with is BMI Baby, and I can't find anything to fault them. I was particularly impressed with the ability to pre-book seats (17-19A or F being my favourites, windows just behind the wings), and I do like the "Classic" 737s they use (300s and 500s). They do some useful routes aswell that are often missed out by low costs like East Midlands to Edinburgh and Jersey.

It's True

Aircraft Type Number Age Rank for the age per each aircraft type
Boeing 737 Next Gen 134 2.8 years On 130 airlines operating this aircraft Ryanair is number 22

Total 134 2.8 years

Code:
Aircraft Active Stored Destroyed History Planned
    ATR 42 4

    Boeing 737-200 7 14

    Boeing 737-800 137 2

I wouldnt say quicker, maybe cheaper.

£20 from St Albans - Loughborough inc all buses...

Only works out better for air if it's South/Midlands to North and Scotland, not in between. Also works out for over seas. Know how to work the system then you get it cheaper than stenaline

The overall journey time from starting point to final destination would probably be quicker though, what with travel to.from the airport etc. If not quicker, at least more convenient.

Alot of people here are really anti aircraft and for the environment!:DWell thats good in some casses but aircraft dont aren't the biggest cause , Chasing around claggy Diesels is contributing a little bit to it I admit aircraft are but at least aircraft and some Diesels are cutting global warming and the now formated WIND TURBINES helping to slow global warming!:D

:?

No plane or train is cutting down global warming, just mearly slowing it down a small bit. But also planes are one of the main problems! Laying CO2 around the globe like a towel!

I don't know why you think aircraft is better for the environment than diesel vehicles, Fred. Air travel emits roughly a third of the carbon emissions of road vehicles. When you consider total air passengers is less than road vehicles, that's bad enough, but emitting CO2 at high altitudes is approx. 3 times worse than emitting it on the ground. I don't know the exact figures, but 'Metroland' has them somewhere.

Back on topic. I think I've flown with Ryanair 2 times. I didn't like them much as I found their staff unpleasant and services were delayed. I prefer Easyjet, but I've not flown with any budget airline since. I've been on 2 charter airlines recently, First Choice last year, both journeys were late, seats were rock hard. They also claim to have more legroom than the competition - not sure about that one. I flew with Thomsonfly yesterday & am due to do so tomorrow. So far they're better than Worst Choice, but we shall see touch wood!

Me likes Ryanair for short hops where taking the train is not viable or too expensive. The service is usually good, the fares are amazongly cheap and some of the food isn't half bad.
