Almost as good as Banga Buses, in Birmingham. Used to sit in traffic behind them outside Digbeth, and... they really were Bangers. :)

When we were last in the Great Yarmouth area in the early 1990's, there was a minibus service along the seafront which was very distinctive by its livery colour scheme and the rather unusual name. How long did this service run for and who operated it?

Whilst I can't really help with any memories of my own on dates or anything, I have seen before that Flickr does contain quite a few Flying Banana photos which I'd suggest you take a look at;

Likewise on of the photos on there has a bit of discussion which you might find useful;

Hope this helps,

Thank you so much for these links. My wife says it brings it all back to her from 20 years ago....especially of the "open top" minibus variety ...:D

We used to run a summer course for Belgian students in nearby Langley School, and on our excursion to Yarmouth, one of the quiz questions was, 'what is a Flying Banana?' It used to intrigue them till they got there.

Unfortunately, they were not impressed by the place itself, so we reverted to Norwich after a couple of years. (And we travelled by Anglian Coaches, which has now transformed into Anglian Buses and dropped its coaching side).
