I'm wondering what fonts are used on infastructure all over the railways, now and in the past.

I've already got Gill sans, used by the LNER and I know the Johnston font for the underground isn't widely available.

Obviously Rail Alphabet is most common, though I'd imagine it's well guarded.

Rail Alphabet is available if you know where to look. I have a copy on my system.

I would like to know the font South West Trains use though...

Arriva's official typeface is Frutiger
Actually, looking at it a bit closer, all the signage at St Pancras looks like Frutiger Condensed

How did you get hold of Rail Alphabet? Would quite like this myself...

I did get copies of the Rail Alphabet font as a free download from somewhere - can't remember where from though. I know that it was linked to on the old UK Trainz forum (long gone now, though).

Be very careful with using this on websites, many can spot when you have used it and the owners are not afraid to kick off legal action.

Hense why I didn't post where I got it from, although it's out there in public.
I would never use it for anything other than dreaming up designs and wishing.

I'll just add the Underground font's e's are wrong, therefore it's not the real font.
