Gatwick airport - viewing locations

On Saturday I have to go to Gatwick to pick up my partner. She lands at 19:00. I intended to visit the museum at Gatwick but that closes at 17:00 so I wondered if there were any locations I could watch the planes coming and going and take some pictures? I will be in her car so will be mobile but obviously don't want to get arrested!

Any ideas greatly accepted!

There used to be an excellent viewing area at Gatwick but it was closed years ago due to the terrorist threat. I am not aware of anywhere nearby that is suitable but someone with local knowledge may be able to advise.

thanks - i have heard the same. May be a case of taking my book and paying for parking sadly

There seems to be spots on level 5 of the blue car park and on the footbridge over the south of Gatwick Airport rail station
