Hi I was in a bit of a hurry this morning, I got on a LNER train to London when I had a Lumo ticket. The trains were leaving at a similar time.
I ended up paying for a single LNER ticket from Peterborough to Kingscross for an additional £130.
I think I've had the extra money but if anyone has any advice I would be grateful? I don't think there is anything I can do.
I didn't hear the announcement at the beginning either for some reason!!

Many thanks

This isn’t clear - can you post the ticket you purchased on the LNER train?

I’m not sure what this means.

If you have bought a ticket the matter is closed.

The OP gives their location as Newcastle-upon-Tyne: could it be that they had to buy from further north than Peterborough? Where do the Lumo stop?

Newcastle, then non stop to London. It is possible they were 'excessed' from a Lumo only ticket to a 'Via Peterborough' ticket by some way of benevolence on the part of the LNER inspector. The anytime day single from Newcastle to London via Peterborough is £195.70.

As 'Haywain' wrote, the matter is essentially closed. The original poster bought a ticket only valid on a Lumo train, boarded the wrong train, a LNER train, and has had to pay the additional fare for travelling on that service. They have completed the journey and will probably pay more attention in the future.

If you got on a LNER train with a Lumo ticket, were charged for a new ticket, and paid the sum requested, that is the end of the matter as far as the railway is concerned. You will not be prosecuted or get in any further trouble for this.

If you think you were charged incorrectly or too much, please upload images or screenshots of both of the tickets you had: the original Lumo ticket and the ticket you were sold on-board. You may wish to cover any reference numbers, barcodes, or your name if they appear on the ticket.
