Expecting a large amount of applications for the driving role, which probably will free up spaces at other depots in the North East.

Would you get any overtime with the Customer Service role?

Is it a good firm to work for, currently in talent pool with Northern for conductor role and not sure wether to apply or not as it's less money than conductor but more than what I'm on now.

Might as well apply. You can always jump ship to Northern if the opportunity arises.

I will also apply for the Bradford based CSA, as a way into the industry.

Good luck to all who are applying (and me of course)! ;)

With you name as a user ID if that is your name this is not an advisable post regarding your future career.

Since I'm ex WSMR I may aswell give the customer service assistant a go...

When you have done enough posts PM me as I will know you!

One of your ex-colleagues is now a driver on the Tyne and Wear Metro.

I know him as well :)

I'm not intending to apply, I was suggesting it to euity30 who was in two minds.

Anyway my name may (or may not) be IanD - but that is not a unique name by any means. Here in my office of 60ish staff there are three people called Ian whose surnames begin with D (maybe including me and maybe not!) so I don't think I have anything to worry about even if I did apply. It's not as if my username is IanDonaldsonOf7RiversCloseNewportPagnellMK166TFDOB24011972

Oh I see, however I do know of managers who monitor this forum for future reference for others ;)

Before I put a speculative application in for a conductor, does anyone know where Grand Central do thier training?

Don't quote me on this, but a new training room has opened at Sunderland, so it might be there. Originally I would have thought at York.

Won't hurt to fire off an email.

Normally it is staff leaving for other TOCs and not the other way around, so bit of a surprise.

I'd imagine if they gave you the job and sent you for training they'd pay for your transport, food and lodgings during that time. Don't know of any company that wouldn't but there could be some out there!
