On Thursday, 20/05/10, I went pass from Wakefield Westgate to Donny, then a Virgin flyer to join the Green Express Charter to Edingburgh/Dundee at York.
This charter was run by the Huddersfield Green Party.
The train was made up of Mk1/3 coaches eminating for the West Coast Railway, at Carnforth.
The train started off at Spondon.
The train arrived on time at York with 12 on, and a 47 on the front and a Class 57 on the rear.
We departed York from platform 5, and had a spirited run up the ECML for a crew change at Newcastle then off like a whippit to Edingburgh, then onto Dundee.
At Dundeen the train was dragged out of the station, and staged in a loop.
We left Dundee on time for the journey to Edingburgh, where we departed at 17:13hrs.
Good run to York, where I bailed out for another XC landing at Westgate smack on time.
I enjoyed this day out on this charter as it ran to time throughout, and the sun shone all the time.
The Mk3 stock were kept cool with the A/Cs.
As far as i could see it was a good day out for everyone.
