Looks like GTR have advertised for what is presumably their talent pool of some kind given the "future" in the title.

Applications close in 7 days.

Does anyone know if Thameslink accept relocation if successful on the initial application? Am just outside of the 50 minutes for both but am looking to move soon anyway.

Most companies won't accept trainee relocations but chuck an application in and see what happens.
Can only say no.

They’ll just sift you out on travelling distance! Do you know anyone within 20 miles of Horsham/Bridges who’d be happy for you to use their address?

I have family who live right in the middle of the two. But I also have open applications for Southern! So not sure if applying through the same careers website with different addresses would flag up!

Change the address on your profile and it’ll change it for both applications

Hi Ibr97

My best advice from experience is that despite plentiful advice on forums to jump in as many talent pools as possible, applying within the same TOC for a different brand will slow down your initial application.

When already in a talent pool for a TOC with multiple brands I then applied for one of their other brands trainee roles. I was swiftly advised that unless I wish to switch my application from one to the other, being in 2 pools within 1 TOC it had high potential to slow down the talent pool process for myself in both. So I withdrew my second application.

Also if you are successful to enter a talent pool for Southern, other than being at the level with the additional tests, all companies will use OPC direct or their material to test (I appologise if thats not correct) so would pass/fail which ever company you chose. Once successful and in a talent pool by all means apply at other TOCs just not within the same.

I personally wouldn't extend my commute to get into the profession of driving trains dishonestly as not only would the commute be dangerous in the long run after a long week of nights, put passengers at risk but also if and mostly likely when found out, I'm sure you'd be back looking for a driving job with dismissal on your record.... to be alert and at optimum concentration the commute time is essential for safety not to just deter people.

If its meant to be its meant to be I feel and if closer to Southern Depot why risk it all for another application that doesn't suit?

Good luck with the Southern application

I think I'll just leave my southern applications open for now. Perhaps once I've moved I'll explore the option of another TOC if nothing has materialized by that point!

I have been told before that after 3 years you can apply for a role at another location which could being you closer to home. Best of luck with your training

Ah ok good to know yeah I'm only 40min drive from barnham. Think it's 30 on train so not a massive deal for me. I'm just happy to be coastal as I imagine is a nice route to drive

Hi All

I was placed into a talent pool for Brighton last year and since been offered the opportunity of a Horsham trainee role instead. Do Thameslink also train Horsham & 3 Bridges trainee drivers at Hornsey same as the Brighton trainees?

Thank You in advance

Yes you’ll be commuting up and back every day. Horsham TL depot is pretty decent from what I’ve heard!

I have heard they have an amazing depot in Horsham.

In my current role I'm lucky to move an electrostar just half a wheel turn during a DRA movement test on maintenance tasks or try the horn. So will be super pleased to train and hopefully get my licence to actually drive more than half a turn even if routes aren't very varied

I've applied for this role, trying my best to prepare!

Am I wrong in thinking that the STJ component is the first at the initial stage of application? or is there more STJ to come?
I've completed the miniScaat - fingers crossed!

At the moment I'm practising group-bourdon dots,
The book I have bought has groups in rows of 11,
whereas the G-B tool on the forum has rows of 25.
Which version is closest to the real deal?

Hi everyone, I've applied for the Horsham/Three Bridges in the title. I did the assessment centre at the start of April and was told after a couple of weeks that I had passed it and that as soon as dates for the interview would come up they would let me know. It's been about a month since I got that email. Is it normal or should I start getting worried? I have searched around a bit but I can't seem to find any definitive answer.

Hi, I wouldn't worry, you may wait a week you may wait a month, if they said you passed, you're either in a que for interview or in a talent pool.

I waited a very very long time when I applied after covid, I didn't hear for a long time than all of a sudden I got pushed through the whole process in 2 months. Hang in there :)
