1615 Penzance to Paddington has been siting inthe platform at Par since 1717 (over 2.5 hours), apparently due to a safety inspection of the line at Bodmin Parkway.

GWR have not said anything other than there is a safety inspection. Down trains are running. Screens on the station are showing incorrect information.

Has anyone got any information regarding what is happening?

Trains backed up all the way to Penzance. It will be a long wait and I think most if not all will terminate at Plymouth. There is a kink in the track due to a buckle.

Due to a safety inspection of the track at Bodmin Parkway the line towards Plymouth is closed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Train services between Penzance and Plymouth may be cancelled or delayed.
Customer Advice
We have requested several coaches to operate in place of train service. However, due to resourcing issues, suppliers have been unable to provide coaches. This means there are no road transport alternatives in place.

Customers may use their GWR tickets on First Kernow bus routes T1, 27. Please visit firstbus.co.uk/cornwall for more information.

Customers may use their GWR tickets on Transport for Cornwall (Go Cornwall) bus routes 11, 22, 28, 28A, 46, 47, 71. Please visit gocornwallbus.co.uk for more information.

Customers may use their GWR tickets on CrossCountry train services between Penzance & Exeter St David's in both directions - please note that CrossCountry train services are also affected by this issue and may be delayed, or revised.

Customers may use their GWR tickets on South Western Railway train services between Exeter St David's & Salisbury in both directions.
Additional Information
There has been a reported kink in the rail on a viaduct near Bodmin Parkway. Kinks in the rail can happen for a number for reasons, including high temperatures. Before we can operate trains over the kink, the line will need to be inspected for safety.

So according to GWR JourneyCheck the safety inspection is due to a kink in the rail, and they have arranged ticket acceptance on local bus routes

EDIT: JourneyCheck updated - line has reopened

Following a safety inspection of the track at Bodmin Parkway the line towards Plymouth has now reopened. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customers are advised that tickets for today will be valid tomorrow all day.
