Sorry if this is not the correct place in the forum.

A couple of hours ago I booked a train ticket for my first day in work tomorrow which is an anytime return but with a seat reservation at 0730. This was £5.99. (Filton Abbey Wood, FIT > Bristol Temple Meads, BRI) I booked on the trainline where my railcard is on by default.

I've just woken up and recalled that you can't use a 26 to 30 railcard for such an early train, or such a cheap train.

I am struggling to find whether the railcard applied any sort of discount as I am aware that people have been prosecuted for unknowingly applying their railcards in the past. How on earth do I check this?

You could check what you paid against the fares shown on the Brfares website, after subtracting any charge that trainline added on top of the fare.

A 26-30 Railcard can be used to obtain discount at any time of day but if used before 10:00 on weekdays it is subject to a minimum discounted fare of £12.

When you purchased your ticket if you selected a journey at 07:30 then the railcaard discount won't have been applied as the price of your fare doesn't meet the £12 minimum. As mentioned by @Belperpete you can check the fare you paid using BRFares.

What people who got into trouble were doing was selecting a train after 10:00 which was cheaper due to the minimum fare rule but travelling before 10:00. Often they'd biught an Anytime ticket so they thought they could travel at any time but they can't do that if the discounted ticket price is below £12.

According to BRFares, Filton Abbey Wood to Bristol Temple Meads is £5.40 for an Anytime Day Return without Railcard discount. Trainline have charged you a 59p booking fee, which is the minimum fee they apply for bookings before the day of travel. You can avoid the fee by buying the ticket on the day of travel, or alternatively you can use a different ticket retailer that doesn't charge booking fees at all.

According to the following sample image from the Trainline website, assuming it is representative, if a Railcard is applied it will show on the E-ticket under the bottom left "Adult":
