Help for Businesses on NR Property

We're all aware of various indepedently run shops, cafes and pubs on NR property, mainly at stations.

I was wondering what assistance NR is providing to these businesses to help them return after the worst of the virus is over. Are they being provided with rent holidays while closed, for example ?

They've cancelled (!?) all rent due in the first quarter (end of April - June) across their commercial estate and in stations


Network Rail has announced swift and significant measures aimed at supporting retailers in Britain’s busiest and biggest stations, and small business tenants across their commercial estate, as the Coronavirus pandemic begins to severely impact trading.

With immediate effect, Network Rail is cancelling all first quarter (25 March – 23 June 2020) rent payments due from tenants in their commercial estate portfolio, providing significant relief for small businesses who are worried about the impact of the virus on their footfall.

That's certainly good news. It's in everyone's interest that they can return at some stage in the future !
