Houses for sale on Rightmove next to Railway

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section, but I was wondering if anybody has seen a house that is for sale on Rightmove and has a good view of trains from the house or garden.

I'm talking almost backing on to track, not half a mile from a station or a view in the far reaching distance or down a cutting three streets away. The criteria I guess would be that you must be able to see and feel the train passing !!!

So post a link and put location in reply.

(Never know, someone on here might even buy one up if it's their dream house)!

This one backs right on to the line. What's worse is there is a rather tight curve so all trains squeal their way past, rather frequently as well.

ok....if we fine tune to say a very good view on an open section of track, but not needing binoculars !

Can you not just go on rightmove yourself and look at the maps and look for properties close by?

Or go on Google maps, look for a rail line and find a housing estate near it.

Rightmove has the facility to allow you to "draw-a-search". This allows the searcher to draw their exact range onto a map, thus if you really wanted to, you could draw your range around local railways.

My house has a unspoilt view of a viaduct, We are about 75metres away. Dont notice the trains passing any more

We bought a house next to a busy railway line.(The Aire Valley)
It was not just for the trains, the property was just what we wanted, but being next to the railway was for me an important factor.

My wife who is not interested in railways was concerned about the train noise, but after just a week or so we never noticed them.

There might be one near me, and most of the houses have fences that back right on to the railway. See my flickr for some pictures of how close (blatant flickr plug)

I was more after just a general sort of "oh I saw a house for sale that has a good view on my travels", rather than me personally wanting to buy one, but you never know !

One in my estate is for sale, and it backs as much as mine does onto the railway

This vacant posession ( the one ruined with all over white paint ) not far from me I know is on the market at about £349,000 although there is no board outside it, but I cannot remember which agent it is with. It backs on to the railway between Ewell West and Epsom.

All you are likely to see out the back, though, are SWT class 455s plus the occasional 450 on vice and 66 on an engineering train. ( If the Portsmouths are on engineering divert, though, a lot more 450s and 444s will appear. )

I live a few miles from Hull overlooking a station and track,when we wanted to sell the agent would not mention the railway because it would put buyers off.

I once saw a Croydon flat advertised in the local newspaper as "would suit deaf trainspotter."

For once the estate agent was being honest - it was in one of those buildings that back on to the line just to the up end of East Croydon railway station.
