Hello,

I have applied for an apprentice train driver role and have received an email inviting me to complete an online assessment for the above mentioned test. I was wondering whether there are any good online resources or similar that would be beneficial to read to put me in the best position to pass this test. I have until 23:45 on the 29/12/2022.

The link I have been sent does have an online practise test but it is only a few questions and so is short on details that you can reverse-engineer info from.

There is another link to a more in-detail test/revision guide that you have to pay £8.99 for and I will probably buy that in any case, but if anyone has any tips/advice or can point me in the direction of something worth reading or watching I would much appreciate it.

Have a merry xmas!

I've had the same thing through and I think it's the kind of test you can either do or you can't.

It's pretty straightforward and you're either the type of person that can take in information or not. Not sure how you would revise for it but that's the point of the test, to see if you are suitable for the role or not.

The example questions they have sent to me seem more like things you either know or don't know that someone who hasn't worked on the railway before would be very unlikely to know, like ". When must the Area Control Centre be informed of a safety critical incident?". That seems to me to be something top be learned and not something you just know or don't know. Thank you for your response though, I think I will buy the booklet as an assist.

The test isn’t really about what you know. It’s if you can read a paragraph then answer questions, all the answers are in the write up! They are testing to see if you panic and how good you are at taking in information

Must apologise, I have re-read the example exam and yes it is there. Thanks

As BCFC has mentioned, all the information you need to give a correct answer is in each question. There's no real 'good' way to revise.
