I have tickets for the Sunday the 7th of April for the 12:52 from Newcastle to Kings Cross and I've checked realtime trains and timetable history.com and neither of them show anything about it, I'm guessing I'm supposed to get on the train at 12:26 as that is the same stopping pattern whereas the 1300 is the other one. Anyone have any ideas about how this happend?

The train is 1E95 11:20 Edinburgh to King’s Cross, which has been cancelled.

You definitely have the right to use the following train, stopping pattern has nothing to do with it, and it’d be usual to allow you to use the preceding train also. If you get the following train you can claim Delay Repay based on your delay compared with the original planned arrival time in London. However the 13:00 is booked to arrive in London 3 minutes after the cancelled 12:52!

@Class455/8. As you say, looks like the 1252 (LNER) Newcastle to London Kings Cross has been cancelled on Sunday 07APR2024. Assume you've got an Advance ticket from Newcastle to Kings Cross. Can't see any problem with you taking the 1300 service, also with LNER, and which as @jfollows has pointed out, is scheduled to arrive into London just a few minutes later than the cancelled train. (Or were you wanting some other intermediate ECML destination?)

Either way, it would be advisable to get alternative seat reservations, just in case the 1300 is particularly busy.
