As the title says I recently lost my zip card. It expires in September 30th of this year so it’s not too bad, but I don’t currently have a valid passport so applying for the 16+ one will take a while. Is it fine to borrow my younger sister’s one (she is only a year younger than me) for the time being until I get my new one or until September 30th.

100% NOT OK.

In particular, section 7.2 of the terms and conditions has:

Section 7 - Enforcement
2. The photocard is not transferable and may only be used by the photocard holder. If the
photocard holder allows others to use it, we may stop the 16+ Zip Oyster photocard and the
person using it may be subject to a penalty fare or prosecution. They may lose their
eligibility for concessionary travel for a period of time.

If an Oyster card has a photo on it, it's for that person, only. TfL often sets gates to 'beep differently' for discounted cards (such as this one), and any inspection will immediately reveal the incorrect use. This forum is full of examples of the strict line that TfL typically takes...

To add to this excellent advice, it's important to also remember that TfL use their CCTV to track people who are using tickets they're not entitled to use. So if you have already been using your sister's card and haven't been stopped, you can't assume that you've got away with it.

So even if you have used your sister's card before, it's very important that you stop using it right now.

From TFL's point of view, it's not their fault you lost your Zip card so why should they foot the bill?

Don't risk it, just pay for your travel in the meantime.

As others have said you absolutely cannot borrow your sister's (or anyone elses) Zip Oyster card. If you do this and are caught you are highly likely to be prosecuted.

What you should do is report your card as lost as this will mean it gets blocked and cannot be used by anyone else:

It can be replaced for a £10 fee which although it expires is probably worth doing as I suspect you'd save more than £10 between now and the end of September.

You don't need a passport for a replacement card, just a £10 fee.
