Later in the year, the internal Swedish sleeper from Malmö to Stockholm might feature in our plans.
Does anyone have any useful experience of it to share?
Also, it's a very early arrival in Stockholm (before 0600). I can't seem to find out if you're allowed to lie in until a more reasonable hour. Any info appreciated, thanks

The only information that I can find online is that different rules regarding lying in apply to different night trains and you should ask the conductor when you board. Maybe someone here has first hand experience of the train and can comment.

The early-evening southbound Umeå - Stockholm night train that was discontinued last December used to have this perk and it was much appreciated.

The only important thing to note is that, unusually for an SJ train, this one has no bistro or catering of any sort. You won’t have difficulty finding food at either end, and if you travel in 1st class you can enjoy breakfast in both the SJ Lounge in Stockholm and/or the Scandic hotel across the street.

Note the train is weeknights only. Normal train composition is posted here.

I did this the other way around (Stockholm to Malmö) in 2018. I found it quite unusual that I actually didn't encounter a single member of staff on the whole thing - I simply found my cabin then slept undisturbed. The cabin was comfortable, the shower worked well and I actually got a reasonable kip. We did divert via Vasterås - so I think I arrived a little later than 6am.

I'd seriously recommend breakfast at the Scandic if this is still available. It was quite surreal as most of the train stepped off and trotted through the otherwise streets of Malmö to the Scandic Kramer, to be greeted by what was basically your full hotel breakfast offering. There was a sign saying 'welcome SJ passengers' so you were very sure you were in the right place. As a 19-year-old Interrailing on the cheap and eating junk most of the trip, a decent breakfast was most appreciated.

This is quite common. Since SJ high-speed, intercity and night trains are all reserved, ticket inspections are not normally needed. The guard will check that the seats or berths are occupied according to the live seating plan on their tablet.

The only negative here - in Stockholm - is that the last time we used it, the Scandic Continental were actively funnelling SJ passengers away from the full breakfast buffet (on the first floor) to a smaller café-style buffet in the lobby. If you arrive in Stockholm on a first-class ticket, do try to get a seat in the much bigger and more comfortable first-floor restaurant for breakfast.

The last time I took the Malmö-Stockholm sleeper you could stay on the train until 07:00, but that can change so double check with the train staff.
