Hello

I'm a new (and very green) FGW staff member, so please bear with me :)

I have received my own travel cards, but was hoping that my daughter may be able to travel at a discounted rate. Because she is 25 and in full time employment, I've been told she doesn't qualify for cheaper travel, BUT, I'm sure I read somewhere that once I had been employed for 3 months, some type of card would be available to me within a 'friends / family discount' type of scheme.

Sorry to be so vague, but I'm still learning :D

Many thanks for any advice!

You need to say which toc you work for as it varies. At 25 she won't qualify for free or priv cards as she isn't counted as a dependant. But some companies offer friends and family discounts, some don't. At first anyone can travel for £5 for the day when accompanied by a member of staff-just get a £5 ticket from a ticket office.

Apologies, didn't read your post fully-you said you are FGW!

As I say, look on the intranet or ask colleagues as you can fill in a F&F form and take it to a ticket office and she can travel for £5 however you MUST be with her at all times. From memory I think 1 staff member can have 2 people on £5 tickets at a time.

Hope that helps.

Will also point out that what I said is based on FCC not FGW but I'm fairly certain it is the same all over first groups TOCs.

After 6 months service, your NI number will work the First My Rewards website. There, you can buy off peak day rovers for £6, but you have to accompany those who travel on them.

Thank you for the info. :)

Sadly, I won't be travelling with her in the main, as she regularly goes to festivals and concerts where I'm sure Mother wouldn't be welcome!

A-driver - Is the 'friends and family' form for the £5.00 travel found on the ATOC site?

Cheers!

Not ATOC, should be on the FGW intranet if it applies to FGW aswell as FCC. I havnt looked on the intranet for ages so not sure where abouts but ask a colleague and they may be able to help.

First TOC staff with at least 6 months of service can sign up and use this site to book the £6 tickets. I'm not aware of any family and friends promotion for First specifically. Northern Rail have a day ranger and CrossCountry also have one which is £5 I think.
