On Wednesday I flew into Kuala Lumpur after an absence of many years and I used the KLIA Express train for the first time for the 30 minute ride into the city.

During the trip, there were many short periods (10-15 S) of quite violent bogie-hunting.

We were traveling between 90 and 95 mph and the intervals between these periods of hunting were a minute or two.

I haven’t travelled on fast trains for many years and I don’t know if this was normal or whether I was travelling in a rogue carriage.

Does anyone have experience with this railway or comments in general?

Have used this line several times-but last time was by now some 5-6 ys ago. Cannot remember any specific disturbances-always smooth ride, for me the major negative was its ending at Sentral-forcing you into either that monorel or another ride on KTMB-komuter.
I assume track must have deteriorated since then, as happens fairly often with insufficient maintenance.

Thanks for the input dutchflyer. Luckily I was being picked up at Sentral, so I didn’t have to continue by train.

However my friend was at another door, which led to a parallel-universe phone conversation.

“I’m outside the door but I can’t see your car.”

“I’m parked outside the door, but I can’t see you!”

I made the return trip on Saturday and it wasn’t as rough. Different set perhaps and possibly the other manufacturer.

I've used it but only when it was very new (somewhere around 2006). I don't recall issues then, but then they may well have done the typical (British as well) thing of building something nice then not maintaining it.
