Hello there. Because Northern advertised 10p (adult) and 5p (child) tickets for between the 19/08/19 and the 30/09/19, I've taken the opportunity to catch the 10:18 from Leeds to Lancaster and the 14:47 back as from the hotel or b&b I'll be staying at I can leave Leeds at a good time and get to both Lancaster and back at Leeds in time for each lunch and tea.

According to Wikipedia, this route is worked by Class 142, 144 and 150's. I prefer a 150 over a Pacer but I do have quite a soft spot for Pacers.

Just need a little advice - if say a 142 or a 144 is coupled to a 150 what would you recommend I board for the nearly 2-hour journey's? I ask as the great thing with Pacers (that 150's lack) are window views at seats.

If a 142 is coupled to the 144 then I'll board the 144 as these will be a lot roomier than w 3+2 bench-seated 142!

I had a 158 when I did it. Really, it's whatever Northern sends out. As I understand, allocations with Northern can be very haphazard, especially on routes which can get many different types of traction. I doubt you'll get a double unit, but I could well be wrong. Travel and sit where you want.

It's very rare I've had two units in use on the line I'm afraid.

I recommend get to Lancaster/Leeds ten minutes early so that you can bag a decent window seat, whatever turns up !

Sit on the right hand side on the way to Lancaster for views of the WCRC depot at Carnforth.

As long as you don't get a Merseyrail 142 it should be an enjoyable journey.

The 1018 is booked a 150, the 1447 a 144. Subject to the usual amendment.

A 158 will be lovely :)!

A 150 does have some seats that align with windows.

Looks like I'll be in for a surprise.
