Likely missed my advance single booked train due to a ferry delay. Advice for avoiding additional costs?

I am currently sailing back from Guernsey to Poole on Condor Ferries. I am booked to get the 19:07 from Poole to London Waterloo on an Advance Single, however the ferry departed 85 minutes late, so I am almost certain I will miss this train and have to buy an off-peak single. Do I have any way of avoiding having to a pay this fare, or failing that receiving compensation due to the knock on costs associated with this ferry delay?

The ferry was due to arrive in Poole at 17:50. Before anyone says I did not leave enough leeway, the Man in Seat61 suggests 60 minutes margin is sufficient:
Now check train times from Poole to London or your local station at any train operator website such as www.tfwrail.wales, or usewww.thetrainline.com, with departure time from Poole set to around 60 minutes after the ferry arrives. The last train goes at around 21:50 most days, so if the ferry arrives after 20:50 you'll need to stay overnight in Poole and take a train next morning.

I do also Thetrainline.com travel insurance if that help for this advance single.
I really do not want any additional expense as I have already had to fork an additional £80 for a hotel on Poole on the 31th August due to ASLEF strike.

This would be something to claim on your travel insurance.

Depending on how Trainline work, you could probably also change the Advance to a later train, either as an Advance or a Super Off Peak. If it's an e-ticket I think they do refund-and-replace. In that case you'd retain the value of the Advance minus £10 admin fee. You need to do it before departure of the booked train.

It is worth asking at the ticket office when you get to Poole. They may be willing to endorse the ticket for a later train, even if there is no actual entitlement to do that.

If the OP gets there in time, which appears unlikely. According to the SWR website the ticket office closes at 19:00.

You can potentially claim compensation from Condor. See https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/passenger-rights/ship/index_en.htm for your rights. This link goes to a set of dynamic web pages that allows a user to determine their rights under Regulation (EU) No 1177/2010

Condor have a specific page that describes their Customer Charter at https://www.condorferries.co.uk/corporate-hub/customer-charter for details of how to claim and the amount they will refund.
Looking at this, I should definitely be able to claim 25% back, as the delay seems to be Condor Ferry fault. They said the delay was due high passenger loads due to the Jersey Weekender, which surely should have been accounted for in their timetable, especially as this I believe is an annual event. The weather has been really good today and the crossing very smooth so I struggle to believe the weather was to blame.

However, this will not cover the cost of an off peak single to Waterloo.

The cost for a new ticket on the website was £41. I may have been too late to get another advance as I had no internet until 10 minutes ago though.

An update: I have submitted a claim via the Condor Ferries Disrupted Service Form. I am reasonably confident I will get 25% back from the ferry fare, but I am not sure about the train ticket as the form is vague about what additional expenses can be claimed. If that fails, I will make a claim through the TheTrainLine.com train insurance.
