I’m hoping to sample an Avanti class 807 from Liverpool to Euston one morning in the new year but, looking at Real Time Trains, I’m not sure that they work specific diagrams.
Similarly, if I use the Avanti website to try work out what train types should appear on any service on any given day, it seems to be a random mix of class 807s and nine or eleven car class 390s (which can change from day to day).
I thought that the intention was to alternate the 807 and 390 workings?
I’m inclined to book a service which is showing on the website as seven cars so should, in theory, get an 807 but I don’t want to pay for a booking then find a Pendolino at the platform (I always try to avoid the confounded things in any event!).
Are the current random diagram allocations due to the number of 807s in service, so it will settle into a pattern over time? Or is the present status quo likely to continue?

If you book on the Avanti site or the Forum site and use the seat selector you can see which ones are *intended* to be 807s, however there's always the risk of a last minute substitute. On the day it can be worth using Realtime Trains to see what is on each individual service.

Long term it will be 2tph with half of these being 807s (the faster path, which isn't yet running in most hours, is timed for Pendolinos).

Cheers. I guess it may be best to wait until the longer term pathings are in place.

Me too. My ideal would be to do a round trip to Milton Keynes with a 807 one way and an 805 the other, but 805s calling at MK are as rare as hen's teeth, so I may have to bite the bullet and go all the way to Crewe

That isn't quite true. There appear to be a number of opportunities for a 805 at Milton Keynes today - 1616, 1916 and 2016 from Euston. No obvious quick spins though.

1443 out from Euston for 1527 back looks good for a 807 both ways especially as the Avanti super-off peak return is good for it. If the 1416 from Euston starts running with 805s again, that might yield a 805 for 807 return.
