Hello, does LNER’s seat guarantee apply when travelling on trains run by other companies? I booked my advance tickets via LNER’s website, and when logging in to do a delay repay claim it gave me a choice of claiming via delay repay or via seat guarantee. As I had to stand for part of the journey as well as my connection being cancelled and replaced with a bus, I thought I’d check if they would allow a seat guarantee claim even though I travelled on EMR (then a bus). Thank you.

Plus if your journey was planned for EMR you need to claim from EMR. Or was it planned for LNER but switched to EMR because of a LNER delay/cancellation? If the latter claiming from LNER would make sense.

Thank you for the quick reply!

My journey was planned as EMR with a Northern connection. The Northern train was cancelled due to staff shortages. I just used LNER’s website because of no booking fees and I used to travel with them a bit.

In that case you claim from Northern.

Delay Repay isn't claimed from the TOC you booked with, it's claimed from the first TOC that was delayed/cancelled sufficiently to have an impact on your overall itinerary.

Oh, thank you. I’m glad I came here to ask first!
