London Bridge to Harpenden

Hi all,

Used a Ticket Machine at London Bridge a few weeks back on a Sunday evening and was sold a London Terminals to Harpenden Off Peak Day Single.

Am I correct in thinking that:
- this was actually not permitted for this route as London Terminal tickets cannot travel through Faringdon
- a Super Off Peak London Thameslink ticket would have been much cheaper?

Correct on both counts. TVMs at group stations aren't that smart.

It would be appalling behaviour by any railway staff that would attempt to punish you for doing this.

Ticket office staff sometimes will issue the same ticket, such as when I was sold a Terminals to Sutton ticket at St Pancras.
