I have read the other thead about Cheshunt. I would like to ask for a bit more information please.
We are travelling with 2 adults, one 8 year old, one 3 year old and one baby in a pram. We don't have a family railcard. We do have 2 pay as you go adult Oyster cards.
Please can you tell me:
1. Best route to travel today from Kings Cross to Cheshunt single and cheapest fare at about 16.00. Ideally with lifts at stations for the pram although we can manage without if needed.
2. The best fare for tomorrow for a return after 09.30 from Cheshunt to London including zones 1-6 travel card. Is it with oyster or something else?
3. We will be traveling back and forth from Cheshunt into London and around for the next 3 days so if cheaper we could get a family railcard. Would it be worth it?
Thanks in advance.

1: Kings Cross to Liverpool Street, one or 2 steps max at Liverpool Street IIRC, then a mainline train to Cheshunt. Best fare will be to use Oyster and a paper single for the 8 year old from Liverpool Street - Cheshunt.
2 and 3: Probably best for you to get a family travelcard, one each for 3 days. Only the 2 adults and the 8 year old pay; £13.60 for the adults each and £2 for the child. You will get a paper ticket and do not use the Oyster. Get the same for 3 days it will work out cheaper - unless anyone else has any suggestions!

Quicker to use the Victoria line from Kings Cross to Tottenham Hale, both of which have lifts.

By my reckoning, you would get better value overall by getting a Family Railcard and then buying your 3 days worth of Off Peak Travelcards with the railcard discount. You end up spending 45p more (in total), but then have the railcard for another 362 days to make that back.

I'd just add that when calculating the benefits of having the Family Railcard for the rest of the year it's worth knowing you can use it even when only travelling with the 3 year old.

Obviously if travelling with an 8 year old and a 3 year old buy one child ticket for the 8 year old and the 3 year old travels free.

However any future journeys you make with just the younger child you are free to buy a ticket for the younger child which then enables you to buy a discounted Adult ticket with your railcard too.

Broadly speaking you will save money on any ticket costing £3 or more.
