Good afternoon all,

I recently attended a assessment centre for the role of a Senior Conductor for London midland passed. I attended the Interview process and passed, I attended a medical with the conditional offer of the Job should I pass the medical this was as of Last Week Friday (04.08.17).

Today (10.08.17) London Midland have lost the right/contract for the train services in the West Midlands. Which I belive will now only last until December this year before being taken over by West Midlands Rail LTD.

Now to the point !!
Does anyone at all know where I stand with my current conditional job offer ? I was told 5 working days from Last Friday's medial meaning I should really find out more tomorrow. Can't help but feel the rugs slowly being pulled from under my feet ?

I really hope so !

Tried calling their recruitment team but there's no one there to take my call, my only doubt is that Iv been given only the conditional offer I'm by no means a employee as of now.

Appreciate your input massively thank you.

you will be employed with LM untill december, then you will just tranfer over to the new company. everything stays the same, just different uniform. no need to panic.

You'll be employed by London Midland, then move over automatically when the new franchise starts.

They still need staff regardless of who runs the contract, congratulations !

It depends if they still intend to run a training course.

As they only have x amount of months to run the contract they may feel it's not worth it wasting time training resources for the incoming company I hope I am wrong though.

You should be fine they always need guards and drivers, otherwise the trains don't run. You will end up getting a swanky new uniform to replace the new uniform your about to receive.

But looks like those of us who were in London Midland talent pools for drivers jobs will have to start again with the new franchise company.

May I ask where you have received this information regarding the current talent pool for drivers? Having spoken to LM HR two months ago, I was informed were the franchise to change it shouldn't be a problem and we would still remain in the pipeline for the new TOC. However they did say this was to be confirmed.

Well I did email them today for more info but no answer yet. I suppose it's still early days but looking at the requirements for the new franchise it involves more trains added to the fleet with more regular services so I can only presume more drivers would be needed in order to fulfill these requirements?

You will be fine. Everyone will TUPE over in December. There is a small chance that Abellio will look at current requirements and decide to reduce numbers but that won't happen for a while and will take a while to assess the situation.

It will be the same HR team dealing with recruitment so those in the talent pool are likely to be in the same situation they are in now.

When/If you hear back from HR, would you kindly update on what the word is. I've been in the talent pool since July 2016, so I've been quite anxious about how this franchise change will effect "talent pool folk". The majority of what I've heard seems positive though.

Received an email today from LM recruitment confirming I will remain in the pipeline for 2018 however no dates on courses are available as yet and will be contacted in due course.
