I believe the station is 24 hours. Are there any facility's between midnight and 5am? EG toilets and maybe a hot drink? I've never been.

Well I don't know about 5am, but certainly at midnight and beyond Starbucks is open. The toilets may or may not be closed, I'm not sure.

Toilets are always open, although you may have to use the disabled access cubicle if the main ones are being cleaned.
Starbucks and Costa stay open all night.

And don't forget. This is London. Something will be open near by. And King's Cross is not that bad nowadays. Quite safe.

King's Cross. I'd vote for the one on the corner of York Way, even though it's the smaller one of the two.

Rarely see any problems in there, but for some reason the one on the other side of the road (Euston Road?) seems to attract some rather dodgy characters.

I have to wonder why there are two so close together though.

Can't think of anything myself. Not sure the McDonald's by Warren Street tube is 24 hours, but if you walked towards Russell Square (towards Tavistock Square) where all the hotels are, I'm sure there will be 24 hour convenience stores.

I'd sooner walk towards King's Cross though, or take a bus which is very straight forward and there are plenty of them in both directions 24/7.

How long of a walk would you say kings cross is from Euston?

10 mins brisk walk. from entrance to entrance (ie not coming into either by tube).

One of the McDonalds (the York Way one, I think) is an ex-Wendy's, hence why you end up with two close to each other.
Neither Euston or King's Cross stations are open all night, but as others have said, there are plenty of facilities in the area.
If you walk east from Euston, you come to St Pancras first, then King's Cross.

I'd say the Euston Road one is better to sit in as it's far larger with more seating, although York Road seems more competent.

I have to say though that I recently went to the one on Euston Road for the first time in about a year and was greeted by the manager directing people to different queues.

This would be all well and good, but she had two people on the tills who were also working in the "kitchen". Every now and then she would go off to do some trivial cleaning and come back and bark at customers.

The irony is after I sat down she then proceeded to stand by a table her friends were obviously seated at and talked for the best part of 20 minutes.

Really not impressed.

This is most helpful thank you. Silly question but will it be sign posted from euston?

St Pancras is closest but only by a minute or two! Euston to St Pancras by foot is straight down the Euston Road. One of the easiest walks you will ever do in London! Turn left out of Euston and head straight down the road

The shortest walk from Euston to St Pancras is via Brill Place/Phoenix Road. See map. That's the route I would take if interchanging - it saves a fair bit of time.

But, given you have time to kill, at 2am I'd use the busier (and therefore safer) Euston Road. This is one of the principle roads in London, you cannot miss it, and once on the road you cannot miss St Pancras or King's Cross!

If you have four hours to kill, I'd suggest that you might want to take a walk down to Soho, which should only take you about 25-30 minutes from Euston (and there are also night buses). There's the legendary Bar Italia, in Frith Street, which is open until 5am every night, and also Balans Cafe in Old Compton Street, which is open 24 hours. There will undoubtedly be other cafes, coffee shops and bars open, as that part of London is truly 24 hours and will be lively almost all night. It's better than sitting up all night in a deserted railway station.

There are also some Saunas on Eversholt Road that are probably open quite until 5am. Have a massage and a relax.

Secrets the Genteman's Entertainment establishment will be open late, too.

So I'm told... :p

I resisted mentioning Secrets! Obviously because I wasn't entirely sure what time it closes. :)

I'd argue that it's one of the more expensive places to go for a few hours though. If you want to look at some baps, stick with the McDonald's idea!

If you are looking for some serious time to kill and dont mind the expense of a bus trip to it you could always shoot down to brick lane from a nice hot beef bagel or two to enjoy on the trip back. Maybe pick up half a dozen too.

it's quite a long time to kill in a coffee shop. If you have a travelcard, you could spend the night going to East Croydon and back ;)
You would also have time to go and get a coffee at Gatwick, although that may not be a particularly good use of £10.50!

plus the first time you do that walk and you've come from "airport" Euston walking down Euston Road and see the magnificent St Pancras, highly recommended. Hopefully they light it up at night!
