Hello, I'm trying to figure the best ticket for this journey.

London Liverpool St - Frinton-on-Sea. Return on same day (Saturday).

The passenger holds the following:
Freedom pass (free travel in London Z1-6)
Senior Railcard

The journey entails getting a Clacton-on-Sea train from Liverpool St, and changing at Thorpe-le-Soken. I believe all the London-Clacton trains pass through Romford (zone 6). I've found a fare of £13.25, Romford - Frinton-on-Sea, super off-peak day return, with Senior discount.

2 questions:
1) Am I correct in my understanding that all London-Clacton trains will pass through Romford? I realise I must book a ticket from a station the train passes through (no requirement to stop there as the Freedom Pass is a season ticket).

2) The passenger will need to break journey at Colchester for a couple of hours on the outbound leg. Is this permitted? The section for break of journey restrictions is blank on the National Rail sections. I have a nagging doubt from a previous thread that super-off-peak tickets have some specific restriction on BoJ.

You are correct on both counts.

No break of journey restriction.

The default position is that there is no break of journey restriction unless advertised as so.

Thank you. Maybe it was a BoJ on a particular ticket I bought previously that put the idea in my head it could apply to all super-off-peaks.

Just out of curiousity, I see that there some advance fares being offered between Liverpool St and Frinton. Does anyone know if these are new? I do this journey once in a while and I've never seen them before. Good news, even if no use on this occasion.

Been available for a couple of years I think. Maybe 18 months.
