What safety system is in place for MAGLEV trains if a section of the track suffered a power cut? It can't simply be allowed to drop down and scrape along at high speeds obviously. Do they use emergency wheels or something under the train for it to drop down on during a potentially catastophic incident like this?

The Japanese type uses wheels at low speed (under 150kmh) or when in stations and helium carried on board to create solid state superconductors which means as long as the magnets stay cool it will stay afloat, the German type has onboard batteries which can hold upto an hour or so of power so that if the magnetically induced power supply from the track failed the trains could continue to levitate until they had come to a stop.
