From 25th August the end points of journeys on Merseyrail Northern Line services were swapped around. Southport-Hunts Cross services became Southport-Liverpool Central, with Ormskirk-Liverpool Central services extended to Hunts Cross instead. When this was announced it was suggested this was temporary in order to allow 8-car 777 services on the Southport line while sorting out issues that prevented 8-car trains working to Hunts Cross.
Until now, on Realtime Trains these services have been shown as short-term plan (STP) alterations to the base timetable. However from the start of the new timetable period in December, these times now appear as "WTT". See for example departures on RTT for Ormskirk on 16th December.
Merseyrail is maintaining on its website and in replies to Twitter queries that this is a temporary change, but does the change to "WTT" on Realtime Trains indicate that this is now perhaps a permanent arrangement, or at least longer-term than previously announced?
EDIT: Actually, looking further ahead on RTT, it appears to revert to Southport-Hunts Cross and Ormskirk-Liverpool from 7th April 2025.
