I am on the 1500 LNER Edinburgh to King's Cross stuck in EDB because a trespasser is supposed to be on Morpeth Station roof.

Yes I just missed this. Should have been on 1E17 the 1330 from Edinburgh which is currently sat at Morpeth. Thankfully a friendly XC Train Manager took pity on me at Darlington and allowed me to join their service rather than waiting who knows how long for my booked train.

Seem to be holding some north bound trains at York at the moment. Presumably this may go on for a while!

1S18 was held at Darlington for 20 minutes and is being terminated at Newcastle. Passengers told there are no services northward from Newcastle at the moment

Yes seems that LNER are holding trains at York. There have been several PAs directing Darlington, Durham and Newcastle passengers to a TPE service at 1608.

It appears 1W96 (1200 Kings Cross-Inverness) is being diverted via Carlisle according to LNER’s website:

“12:00 London Kings Cross to Inverness due 20:07 will be diverted between Newcastle and Edinburgh.
It will no longer call at Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
It has been previously delayed, is being further delayed between Newcastle and Edinburgh and is now expected to be 139 minutes late.
This is due to trespassers on the railway.”

Ouch, things must be bad if they are diverting via Carlisle and the WCML

Just for completeness, it's 1W16 these days.

LNER were held as far back as York, as preference is for trains to be held at stations.
Newcastle was full. And Durham and Darlington also had LNER held there.
As it was a juvenile on the roof and they initially were not engaging with anybody, it was unclear how long the incident would go on.
Ticket acceptance was in place with Crosscountry, Avanti and TPE to try keep people moving.

Just as a postscript: services started leaving Newcastle northbound about 1640. I thought LNER handled the problems pretty well, they had plenty of staff on the platforms at Newcastle giving what help and information they could, though obviously they could only talk to a few people at a time. In contrast the public announcements were pretty unhelpful: there was no explanation of the line being closed, just an endless stream of announcements about individual services being cancelled.

A large group of LNER passengers finally got to Edinburgh on the Aberdeen train (1W20) which was announced in good time as leaving from platform 2. Then about 5 minutes before it was expected, we were told it would go from platform 3 (which was still occupied by a train returning to London), then we were told it would go from platform 2 after all, just as it rolled in. That platform 3 announcement must have been a mistake - it did rather detract from the feeling that everything was back under control!

It was going to go from plat 3, then it was realised that the crew to work it north were on one of the delayed services that were delayed at Morpeth, hence signaller moved it back to plat 2, so a slight hic cup on a challenging afternoon.

At Waverley, LNER First class passengers on the 1500 were on their complimentary drinks when informed they would have to detrain from the 1500 on platform 6 to the 1530 on platform 2, this was also cancelled and passsengers had to detrain again to the 1600 on platform 5.
Big respect to LNER refunds, I bought my ticket on the LNER app and my delay repay was back in my account within 36 hours.

I’m surprised no one mentioned the possibility of diverting bi-modes via Bedlington. Is it a route knowledge question, or rolling stock clearance, or both? I note the route learning Q paths are still in RTT, timed as “light loco”...
