I notice Bourne ultimatum had a scene from Euor star trains going to Waterloo and Mr beans holiday too. Is there any others?

Top gear also done this.

Just wondered if there would be any films getting filmed on the new trains would be intestine to see given they are faster and more modern. Would love a good Top Gear/Grand tour race or new action movie filmed on these new trains. Is there any films scheduled to be filmed on Euro star trains?

Mission:Impossible (the first Tom Cruise one) had a silver TGV going through the Channel Tunnel... something that has never actually happened. So completely unrealistic even before the whole "helicopter chasing the train into the tunnel" thing!

Yes I noticed one of the German trains made it to London before too but no news on any services yet though.

And I seem to remember that it was actually shot on the Glasgow and Southwestern line if I'm recalling correctly. I'll have to admit though the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracked Laserdisc is still very impressive and good fun to watch on my home theatre system, even when as you rightly say it's so totally far fetched.

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.

Yep. An absolutely dire film.. a fact cemented by the helicopter flying into the tunnel, supposedly set in a post-OHLE future where Chunnel trains were powered by CGI and unicorn farts.

Don't forget the bit where it passes a train in the other direction in the tunnel, and Cruise has to get out of the way just in time.

One get-out for the producers: bearing in mind when this was made (and the fact that it was out of Waterloo), wouldn't the above-ground bit been on third rail anyway (rather than under OHLE)?

I did like the film, I have to admit. It was the best of the franchise for me. The train bit did require a bit of "suspension of disbelief", though.

Another Eurostar connection: the end of an episode of Spooks was filmed at St Pancras. One of the spies was putting a family on a train, as part of witness protection.

The changeover from DC to AC always happened well in advance of the tunnel portal though... I suppose an extremely skilled helicopter pilot might be able to swing in from the side below the catenary (especially with the higher clearances needed for Le Shuttle), but it'd be a very high-risk move!

Waterloo International was always the place where Eastenders characters were written out, if there was any possibility of said character being brought back in the future to revive flagging ratings... if not, they'd just be beaten to death by one of Tweedledum or Tweedledee, usually at Christmas!

I thought they "moved to Leeds" (a bit like being sent to Coventry).

But then again I don't watch Eastenders. That programme appearing on TV is enough to motivate me into leaving the room!

Not strictly speaking filmed "on" the Eurostar, but the anime "Hellsing" had one episode featuring a character arriving into the UK on a train that was almost certainly based on the Eurostar (for those unfamiliar with anime, its not unusual for "suspiciously similar substitutes" to be used for famous brands to skirt copyright issues, such as "MacRonalds").

There's an anglo-french film about a French maritime engineer from Calais who commutes to London for work via Eurostar. In Calais he has a very homely wife, roses round the door etc and in London a wild, clubbing boyfriend. A variation on the similar film with Alec Guinness as the Gibraltar ferry captain. Of course it all starts to go wrong.

Edit : It's called "Barnie".
