I have twice used the new National Rail app and both times it returned incorrect information. Today I was looking for trains from Worle to Exmouth on 6th Nov at 09.00. The app returned “we couldn’t find any services for the journey you have requested” I knew this to be wrong so googled the same journey details and Trainline confirmed my suspicions by giving me several train options for the journey. It looks like the National Rail app has been “improved” so that it doesn’t work anymore! Shame, I liked it but now I don’t trust it.IMG_9184.pngIMG_9183.png

I suspect there may be some form of system outage at the moment. I've tried traintimes.org.uk and nationalrail.co.uk this afternoon and both returned error messages rather than train times

There is. Email was sent out about it 25 minutes ago.

To add to the potential alternatives: As well as Trainline, TrainSplit's journey planner and app are unaffected by this outage. This includes live times in the Android app. On iOS, Railboard is working too.

Maybe an extension of https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c36p063jz7do a day or two ago
Pro-Russian hackers have claimed to have targeted several councils in a cyber attack.
A group named NoName057(16), pictured with a Russian flag in its profile, posted on X, external about its plans to target UK town halls, including in Greater Manchester.
It claimed to have hit the the Salford, Bury, Trafford and Tameside council websites this week with a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack, flooding the websites with internet traffic to put them out of use.
Salford, Bury and Trafford councils confirmed their web pages were temporarily affected by a cyber attack, but said they were now back online.
as it is another part of UK infrastructure?

This interesting.

The old National Rail Enquiries app was working but had a message about their thing and kitchen and to use tge National Rail Enquiries Web site.

So I tried to new NRE app because that is using the Web site. I got an error.

So I tried the Web site itself and got a 404 not found error message, which was different to the one in the app.

I took some screenshots. I will need to edit my post to insert some as I was using two phones.

The first one is the old app

The second one is the new NRE app freezing whilst loading.

The third one is the new NRE app

The error message reads:
Warning
Connection error, please check your connection

The fourth one is the NRE Web site.

The error message reads:
Sorry, we can't find the page you want

404: Page not found

We have made some changes to our website recently. This means the page you're looking for might have been removed or renamed, or the link you've entered might be incorrect.

To get to the right place, you can try:
  • searching for what you want using key words
  • visiting the home page using the links at the top and bottom this page
  • Alternatively, visit live trains info for latest train times
  • Or you can plan a journey or look for trains to and from your location via Google search
Some of lines start with a captial and some don't. Also on each of the list lines are links, but I don't have them to hand so can't recreate them.
