Here is the NR results at Norbury 23:33 9/12/2024

According to NR app/website, it was total chaos, and there were no trains at all, all trains indefinitely delayed, just don't even bother trying to come to the station.

However, on RTT everything was perfectly fine.

Any idea what happened?

Where does it say "absoloute chaos"? It's a screenshot of one service.

This to me reads like some sort of feed/tracking issue with services that is showing them incorrectly as "Delayed".

There is an issue with National Rail's data feed following an upgrade that took place at 10pm.

Indeed Southern tweeted as much:

Due to an update of our systems, services may be showing as delayed on our apps and websites.

Station screens are displaying the correct information.

️ We're hoping to have this resolved as soon as possible.

the NR website was showing this for all trains. this is just the information for one service, as I didn't take a screenshot at the time.

so i took the bus.

it appears that they gave wrong information.

Yes see above from Southern. It appears to be impacting multiple stations. Did you ask anyone about it?

No, I don't think there is even anyone at Norbury station at that time - the NR app showed all trains in utter disarray from Norbury and likewise from Streatham, so I didn't even enter the station, on the reasonable assumption that the NR information was accurate.

I would have expected to see banner alerts and disruption statuses if it was really that bad, but I take your point as it is most of the time accurate.

We had a similar situation at Malvern Link Station on Sunday evening - first service back down to Worcester after the usual "miss an hour out of the scheduled runnings". Made it to the station where there were people waiting for the same service.

NR App showed the service itself was running - but there was no information at all on the platform displays - instead we had a generic "services might be delayed or cancelled due to conditions" displayed instead - so we had no visibility on if any future services were running, delayed or cancelled as you normally would.

About 10 minutes after the scheduled arrival - which the NR app was still showing as not only running - but had called at the station we were standing in - we got a very quiet automated announcement which was only audible from the other platform, that the service had been cancelled.
