My laptop picked this up on the BBC News website about a New Derbyshire Wayfarer bus ticket.
Does this mean I can no longer use Derbyshire Wayfarers on the Train Derby to Sheffield?
These are at present £7 for OAP's.
"Bus passengers in Derbyshire will be able to make unlimited daily journeys with new tickets being launched:
The county council is introducing the new Derbyshire Wayfarer tickets from Monday 24 April.
The council said every bus operator serving the county is to offer the new tickets which can be bought on buses, online or downloaded to a smartcard.
The new tickets are being funded from £47m the government awarded the county to improve bus services.
A council spokesperson said the tickets were great news for everyone who currently uses the bus and it was hoped more people would be tempted to give the bus a go.
A daily adult Wayfarer ticket will cost £8 and £6 for young people under 16.
Family group tickets for two adults and three children will cost £15.50 and weekly tickets will be available.
The prices will be set for six months as an introductory offer."

The DCC website is still advertising the old style Wayfarer which includes trains. This ticket has always had a reduction for those 60+ rather than 66+. Link to site below.

Don't panic 2192! The existing Wayfarer will continue but be renamed the Derbyshire Wayfarer Bus and Train ticket. Not explained on the BBC press release but clear on the Chesterfield Council press release here https://www.chesterfield.co.uk/2023...from-discounted-bus-travel-across-the-county/

Part of Derbyshire's Bus Service Improvement Plan is to expand their range of Wayfarer multi-operator products.

The first step here is to introduce a bus only option alongside the existing bus+train one. A choice of daily and weekly passes are being offered and the weekly tickets will be on smart cards. The scheme is being administered by South Yorkshire Travelmaster - https://www.sytravelmaster.com/derbyshire

Second step in the future will be to introduce more local versions offering affordable all operator passes for specific towns/areas as well as the countywide ones.

The new Derbyshire Wayfarer bus only ticket will have exactly the same bus validity as the existing Derbyshire Wayfarer so will still be valid on cross boundary journeys to the likes of Sheffield, Macclesfield, Leek etc..

There are no changes to the original Wayfarer soon to be rebranded Derbyshire Train & Bus Wayfarer.

Presumably though if the bus only version is £8 the multi-mode version will be dearer?

One change to validity is that the new tickets are no longer valid to East Midlands Airport.
