Nominee Staff Oyster - Thameslink

Hello,

I live north of London on the Thameslink line. I have a season ticket to Kentish Town and the trains I get don't stop there, which I know is fine.

However, I was wondering what the rules are for those with a nominee pass (or a TfL member of staff without a season ticket). If travelling to/from Bedford, are they allowed to have return day ticket to Kentish Town and not get a train/route that calls at Kentish Town?

Or do they have to buy a return ticket to London Thameslink with their nominee pass being used for any onward TfL journeys?

My partner made a journey into London recently with a ticket to Kentish Town and the inspector said that they were not allowed to do to that. Is that correct?

Thanks

I believe it would definitely be valid with a split ticket, as that fits the description of the National Rail Conditions of Travel, 14. Using a Combination of Tickets, as the train does not need to call as a part of this requirement, as per 14.3. See below...

14.3 – Unless Condition 14.1 applies, if you are using a Season Ticket, daily Zonal Ticket, or another area based Ticket such as a concessionary pass, ranger, or rover, in conjunction with another Ticket and the last station at which one Ticket is valid and the first station that the other Ticket is valid are the same, then the train does not need to Call at that station for your combination to be valid. (Link to NRCoT)

I have just been and checked, and there's nothing on the 'Your Staff Oyster card - Conditions of Use' or 'Your Staff Nominee Oyster card - Conditions of Use' that preclude this as per 14.1, nor printed on the back of the cards themselves, so I don't see as to why it would be an issue.

As one of the tickets is a 'concessionary pass, ranger, or rover' in effect, then there is no reason why this would not be a valid through journey whilst not calling at Kentish Town.
