CODED WELDER

This is a full time post located at Grosmont Motive Power Depot. The successful applicant will report to the Shedmaster.

Specific responsibilities:-
• All pressure welding.
• Fabrication work as required that includes, MIG, TIG and manual metal arc.
• Safety checks on all oxy-acetylene sets – instruct on basic gas safety and equipment
checks – sign off records.
• Instruct on basic welding techniques for non-trained staff – sign off records for
competence.
• Liaise with Boilersmith Foreman and Storeman for welding consumables
requirements and all associated equipment.
• Assist others as required and directed.
• The following skills would also be of benefit:

−Plasma arc cutting of materials.
−Brazing and silver soldering.

The successful applicant should also be:

• Apprentice trained with experience of working with pressure vessels.
• A current clean driving licence is desirable.

The position will require a commitment to work weekends, and Bank Holidays.
