Hi,
I stumbled across this the other day on Google Maps. It's on the seldom used Quayside lines at Workington: http://goo.gl/maps/qBilH
At first it seems like a pretty standard open level crossing without traffic signals, but on moving forwards a bit and looking left, we see this: http://goo.gl/maps/4LHRZ
This is the only wig-wag board (or whatever their actual name is) at this crossing (the road is two way), and it appears to be pointing along the track, as if it is intended for train drivers rather than road users. Furthermore, what would normally be the amber lens appears to be green. The lit red lamp is also intriguing (I doubt it is a reflection of sunlight as the road sign shadows show the sun is not pointing at the board), and I would guess that it is steadily lit rather than the two red lights oscillating as, for filament lamps, this usually shows up on photographs as one lamp brightly lit and the other dim (e.g. from the trains on Streetview thread: https://www.google.co.uk/maps?ll=54...EESaEGjckDw&cbll=54.947353,-2.680676&t=m&z=11 ).
On a different bit of the same set of lines, we see this: http://goo.gl/maps/OLkvn . We have strange wig-wag boards without the amber lamp, but also a normal board that again appears to be pointing along the track.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?
