Just heard that "Lawrence of Arabia" has passed away.

A wonderful actor who lived a long life despite the fags and booze :p

Not much point in mentioning him on here as hardly anybody will have heard of him.

Your correct about the fags and booze, surprised Peter last so long.
He was great actor.
No doubt in a boozer in the sky with Oliver Reid.

I didn't know much about him (quite apart from the fact that my knowledge of actors is pathetic anyway) but I did enjoy watching 'Lawrence of Arabia', it was a brilliant production.

Really that would suprise me - has hardly anyone on here heard of him ?

Considering the majority of posters ages I wouldn't expect many would have heard of him.

I've heard of him. A fine actor with some fine stories to tell, some of the best Parkinson (for those apparently in the majority on this site, that was a chat show hosted by Michael Parkinson - google him if you've not heard of him either!) episodes featured Peter O'Toole. Sad to hear he's died.

Laurence of Arabia was a classic but my favourite was one of his later films "My Favourite Year" which may or may not have been based on him in real life!

I've heard of him :D

My mum used to work with him on a newspaper in Leeds (early 50's I think!)

She said he was a cheeky type but a good laugh; always trying to flog tickets for his latest show...(before he hit the big time).

Great character, great actor RIP.

Probably at the bar in the sky right now

Since when?

There was a character in Prometheus based on his likeness of Lawrence of Arabia, but Peter O'Toole did not star in the film.

Since every time you watch the film, Peter O'Toole is shown when David watches the clip of Peter O'Toole saying "The trick, William Potter, is not minding it hurts". Hence, Peter O'Toole is in Prometheus, not sure how chuffed he would be, I'm still 50/50 about that film. Oh, and I never said he stared in the film, I just said he was in it.
