We are planning to travel from Peterborough to Preston, on Tuesday 14th January.

Looking at the First Class menu options, the 14.30 from Kings Cross (Peterborough 15.18) offers Dine, rather then Deli or Dish. Would a Dish option be offered between Peterborough and York (16.32)?

Yes, you would certainly be offered food between Peterborough and York, but there may not be time for the 'full' dine experience of a proper "main" plus the enhanced desert.

Note also that the enhanced 'Dine' only options may not be available, especially if the train is busy, and you weren't on from King's Cross, so I wouldn't absolutely count on it. It's not uncommon for 'Dine' trains to be reclassified as 'Dish' and this is not always announced. Even if it isn't reclassified as such, they can run out of items, especially the more popular items on busy trains.

But you should have plenty of time at York to get food if there wasn't a great offering on board; there are various places to get food at the station and your onward train would presumably be the 17:23

Thanks for the information, I have just booked our tickets on the Forum ticket site.

Peterborough d 15.18
York a 16.32
York d 17.23
Preston a 19.39

So plenty of time to get something to eat & drink if required, plus I presume access to the 1st class lounge? Advanced singles 1st class Peterborough to Doncaster and Doncaster to York, then Advanced standard singles to Preston.

Yes you get access to the lounge, however the drinks offering is basic, and food consists only of unhealthy snacks such as crisps, shortbread etc.

The lounge is ideal to get some work done, but if it's a leisure journey, you may prefer the ambience of York Tap, and visit Sainsbury's if you want a snack for the York to Preston train.
