I have a priv for EMT so thats one HST sorted and I dont mind how early i get up but I have to finish at Leicester the same day, late evening! any help would be gratefully recieved!

Don't have any timings but as a possible route do Leicester to Derby (poss EMT HST) then XC HST Derby to Bristol Temple Meads for a FGW HST to Paddington. Then Kings Cross to somewhere like Peterborough and then back to Kings Cross and finish with St Pancras to Leicester on EMT

I think thats every operaters HST except NXEC. Or you could

Leicester - St Pancras EMT HST
Paddington - Bristol FGW HST
Bristol - Derby XC HST
Derby - Nottingham XC 170 (

)
Nottingham - Grantham or Peterborough EMT 15x (

)
Grantham/Peterborough - York NXEC HST
York - Kings Cross GC HST
St Pancras - Leicester (EMT HST)

Slight alteration: how about

though timings may not work!

You could do a FGW HST to Slough and back if that doesn't count as cheating. (At least you wouldn't have to suffer from blinding lights and hard seats for too long

Here are some timings. Not much you can do about the wait in Peterborough, unlesss you do option 2 with the mallard:

Why not catch the EMT to London
Then head to Paddington - go out to Reading and back again
Then to Kings X in time for the 1130 Grand Central Departure to York
Then on the 1400 ish NXEC HST to Newcastle
Then catch the 1525ish voyager for Birmingham
Then the 1900 XC HST to Derby
Then Derby back to Leicester

There you go all the HST's all in one day.

Depending on the time of day, alot of Oxford fasts, and Hereford/Worcesters can and do produce turbos..

does anyone know if the 1730 NXEC to Peterborough is a HST as the timetable has changed now and I am planning to do the above soon!

The 1720 is 1719, the Hull service, and is a HST. The 1730 is booked 91+mk4s to Edinburgh.

I think there's at least one a day, although I don't have the diagrams to hand. There's definitely one leaving Edinburgh at 08:05, unless that's changed.

All are, except the 1650 from Kings X. (Northbound)
Southbound its something like 1100 from York - Kings X
