Good day everyone. I am a new starter with TfW, and applied for a form from RSTL in order to get a Priv season ticket from my home to work. I have checked that it is a valid season ticket route.

I got in from work today to see a short email from RSTL saying, in its unhelpful entirety, "Thank you for your season ticket application. Unfortunately we are unable to approve your application as you are not eligible for a Season Ticket."

Does anyone know why they would refuse this to an Active Non-Safeguarded rail employee?

Perhaps because you gave an address in India?

You mean I can't get 75% off from Rajahmundry to Carmarthen? It'd save me about £154,000 a year.
Maybe TfW haven't passed your details over yet.
Yes, that's probably it. My experiences with TfW so far leads me to think that they would struggle to arrange alcoholic refreshments in a brewery. I got nobbled today by a DSM about having no uniform, no name badge, no staff pass, no safety shoes, over a week into the job. He went to a superior colleague of mine, who had to confirm that I am not some random imposter.

Nothing has changed since Wales and West days then!

Well, if he didn’t know you it sounds like he was doing exactly the right thing. And without anything to identify you as staff you shouldn’t be working in either public facing roles or staff areas.

One crumb of comfort is that the DSM who upbraided me shows that there are some people in TfW who are trying to do things correctly.. I wish he could have gone and banged a few heads in HR together. It puts me in an awkward position and it's unreasonable of the company to expect me to deal with all this. Never mind, things can only get better.
