Hi all. I'm about to start a training course to become a rail track maintenance operative and was hoping to get some advice from those who know. Is it possible to only work days and evenings without working nights, or do you get given very little choice in your shift pattern?
I've worked nights before and it affected my health somewhat.
Also, how difficult is it to progress and/or apply for other roles once you're on site?

Every depot is different only the hiring manager will be able to answer for you on that..

though every depot I'm aware off works a mix (larger proportion nights) you can sign for a non compliant roster for perm nights, at least I do.. but I very much doubt for days especially now to lack of work that can be done now red zone working is not allowed anymore
