Can I get a discount on a season ticket as I have a disabled persons railcard? If so how do I do it online? If not, why not?

Railcard discounts are not available on season tickets, the reason supposedly being 'they are already heavily discounted products'. In any case the idea of railcards was to encourage discounted leisure travel and as such the TOCs want to protect the commuting revenue as much as possible. You may however find that depending on your journey, buying returns is cheaper than at least a weekly season. But this isn't always the case.

Ahh many thanks, I've finally managed to find the info I needed whilst waiting for a reply. I note that unique to the disabled railcard there are neither any class restrictions, peak restrictions or minimum fare restrictions. Therefore I can get 1/3 of travel at any time; so quite possible by getting a return ticket each day I may well still be saving!!

Correct. In many cases it is cheaper for a Disabled Persons Railcard holder to travel using daily tickets rather than seasons. It's worth checking specific fares at brfares.com.

The railcard is somewhat different to others as apart from offering discounts on leisure travel, it's also there to help people who cannot drive a car and to defray the cost a little for those that need a travelling assistant.
