Hi,
I scanned a GA e-ticket bought through Uber at the ticket barrier, but the train doors closed as I was running to the train. With the next train I would have been too late, so I left the station again and went home. I had an off-peak day return ticket for £30, but my refund application was rejected as the ticket was scanned at the barrier.
Is this correct or can anything be done about it?
Thanks

The ticket remains unused so is refundable as a change of mind refund. You need to explain the above.

The mere fact that a ticket is scanned at the origin station does not necessarily mean it was used - only a corresponding exit scan at the destination would prove this.

Indeed, if you decided only to make part of the journey, with it being a walk-up ticket you would be eligible for a partial refund based on the fare for the journey actually made.

In your situation, as you did not travel with your ticket, you are still entitled to a refund (possibly less an admin fee of £5). I'd suggest getting in touch with Uber's customer service, though I know that some retailers are better than others when it comes to issues such as this.

You could always request CCTV footage from Greater Anglia (presumably being the station operator) to bolster your case, if you want. But it's not a prerequisite by any means.
