Just had notification from TfL that my “card will expire soon. You won't be able to use it to pay for your travel and you'll need to replace it with your new card.”

I don’t have any plans to visit London in place, but no doubt will at some point, and am reluctant to update it now.

Should I forget to do it and in the future present replacement card to pay will I really be declined?

You would not be declined, it's much more of a nice reminder that you will not see your new card journey history...

Weird that they would send this email at the present time. Even weirder that they would claim that you "won't be able to use it to pay for your travel" - while that's no doubt true if the card is expiring, that's not really a fact of which people need reminding as an expired credit card isn't going to be accepted as payment for anything.

I could understand TfL warning people who use auto top-up that they need to update their payment details or they'll run out of PAYG credit on their Oyster card, or even warning people they won't be able to get their journey or payment history if they start travelling on the replacement credit card without registering it. Quite what people in those situations are supposed to do at the present time I'm not sure? But the message you describe seems a bit odd.

Are you certain it's from TfL?

It's seems gen, the links work, but when did a scam ever rock up with "beware this is a scam" written across the top. There's even a link to The Mayor of London "We are London" page and all the fantastic stuff that is being done, will be done........, in heaven as it is on earth too probably!!!

I will leave updating my details for now.
Thx to all responders.
