Met him once - the artist John Miller brought him into my bookshop. Gary Rhodes had decided he wished to display a lot of John's work in one of his (then new) London restaurants, and John was showing him around West Cornwall, where he lived and had his studio. John explained to Gary that the bookshop had been the site of Penzance's first art gallery and that John and his partner had lived in the flat over it.
